Ingredient Notes

The recipe for these sweet potato black bean burgers is WFPB, uncomplicated and healthy. Here are the 7 simple ingredients you’ll need:

  • sweet potato – you will need one medium sweet potato or around 1¼ cup cooked. You can boil or bake it. I prefer boiling as it’s quick.
  • black beans – canned work great, just rinse and drain them. Kidney or white beans also work in this recipe.
  • rolled oats – I used fine rolled oats, choose gluten-free if needed
  • onion – adds great flavor, you can use yellow or red onion
  • spices – cumin, paprika, and coriander make the burgers quite flavorful

I made these but after baking and before serving I put them in my air fryer. Came out nice & crispy

  2. These look great! I can’t eat onions (or garlic). Could I substitute celery for texture? Or just omit? Thanks!

    • Hi Cheryl,
Thank you! You can try them with celery, just make sure it is finely chopped. You can share how they turn out if you try them.
