The problem with the modern food supply is that we eat too many calories and too little nutrition.

If we ate a balanced whole plant food diet, we would undereat on our calories and overeat on our antioxidants and phytonutrients.

What Unhealthy Processed Foods Are and Why They Are So Bad for Us

Processed foods are ubiquitous.

On the supermarket shelves, on the news, on our tables…

We all know they are supposed to be bad for us but do we truly know what processed foods are?

Most people will think of a candy bar or chips.

That is just the top of the pyramid, though.

Any natural food that has parts of it removed or has been chemically altered is a heavily processed food.

Think of sweet beets and sugar. Olives and olive oil.

They have very little in common.

And neither the oil or the sugar is healthy.
