Simple Natural ingredients
These Peanut Butter Vegan Twix Bars are made with clean & pure ingredients. They are gluten-free and practically naturally sweetened. That’s why they are much healthier than the original twix bars. Yet they taste amazing!
You need only 6 ingredients, here they are:
- coconut flour – creates a soft and chewy base
- dates – I used regular pitted dates
- peanut butter – use plain natural peanut butter without any additives
- maple syrup – can be substituted with agave syrup or honey
- chocolate – any dairy-free dark chocolate works fine
- salt – just a pinch to enhance the flavor

How to make peanut butter vegan twix bars
This vegan twix bars recipe is so quick and easy to make. It requires little effort and just 20 mins to make. Here are the 4 simple steps you need to follow.
Step 1: Put all ingredients for the base layer in a food processor and pulse until well combined.
Step 2: Press the mixture evenly to the bottom of a pan, lined with parchment paper – mine measures 8 x 8 inch (20 x 20 cm).
Step 3: In a small bowl mix the peanut butter, maple syrup, and salt. Stir with a spoon until well combined. Than, spread the peanut butter mixture into an even layer on top of the base. Put the pan in the freezer for about 20 mins.
Step 4: Meanwhile, melt the dark chocolate with the peanut butter. Take the pan out of the freezer and pour the chocolate mixture on top. Carefully spread it with a spoon to evenly cover the surface. Sprinkle with salt or ground peanuts.
Now, you can either eat it right away or refrigerate for 10 mins. Cut it into squares and enjoy! Store leftovers in the fridge.
Quick Tip: It is not necessary for the peanut butter layer to freeze entirely but only to become firm. This way you can easily spread the chocolate layer on top. It will harden from the cold after several mins and you can enjoy your twix bars right away.

Hi this looks amazing. Before I try it, I’d like to know about the peanut butter. The pb I use comes very liquidy from the natural peanut oils on top. By the time I get to the bottom of the jar, it’s incredibly dry. What do you recommend for getting the right consistency peanut butter for this recipe?
Hi Julie,
for the peanut butter in this recipe, I recommend using a creamy, well-mixed peanut butter. If your natural peanut butter tends to separate with the oils rising to the top, you can try stirring it thoroughly with a spoon before measuring out the amount needed for the recipe. I sometimes use a hand mixer to ensure my peanut butter is well-mixed before using it in recipes. This helps to achieve a smoother consistency, especially if it tends to separate easily.
How do you recommend melting the chocolate?
Hi Annie,
you could melt the chocolate in a double-boiler (preferably) or in the microwave in 15-20 seconds intervals stirring until completely smooth.
Hi there: This looks delicious! Can I substitute the coconut flour for a different kind of flour? I am not a fan of the coconut flour 😕. Thank you!
Hi Fran,
Thank you!
You could substitute it for almond flour, however, you may need to adjust (reduce) the amount of water.
